Superdrug is delighted to announce its plans to deliver 300 Apprenticeships in 2017. This represents a 23 per cent increase on those achieved in 2016.

2017 marks the tenth anniversary of Superdrug’s National Apprenticeship programme. Over the last decade the retailer has helped 1,320 people receive a recognised Apprenticeship qualification and this year will reach 1,620.

Superdrug’s Apprenticeship programme has developed over the last ten years and today it offers Pathways, a programme hiring young people as retail Apprentices on a 12 month fixed term contract, offering guaranteed paid work for a year, and also the chance to complete a Retail Skills Level 2 Apprenticeship.

75 per cent of Apprentices who graduate with a qualification will go on to secure permanent roles within the business, with the opportunity to continue to develop and progress to Team Leader and Management roles. There are currently 177 Apprentices currently on Superdrug’s programme, and 120 have qualified in the last year.

Superdrug has worked hard to help young people get their first role in retail and continues to develop and expand the Apprenticeship Scheme. By 2018 the retailer plans to recruit 500 Apprentices a year.

Jo Mackie, Superdrug Customer & People Director comments: “We’re delighted to offer young people the chance to pursue a career that they love. Over the last ten years we’ve worked hard to develop our Apprenticeship Scheme and have recently started to offer opportunities within Head Office including roles in internal communications and events. We have targets to grow the number of colleagues on the programme and have made a pledge to increase the number of colleagues on the scheme to 500 a year by the end of 2018.”

Superdrug is recruiting throughout the year with opportunities in retail, head office and in the distribution centres, and those interested should visit http://www.superdrug.jobs/apprenticeships.html
