WAITROSE LAUNCHES SUPERMARKET FIRST, RICELESS RISOTTO



Today, Waitrose announces the launch of a riceless risotto, as the trend for swapping traditional carbohydrates for vegetables continues to thrive. From swapping spaghetti for courgetti and mash potato for cauliflower mash, veg alternative to rice and pasta was one of the biggest trends of 2016 and it’s showing no sign of abating.

A supermarket first, Mushotto is launching as part of a new low calorie ready-meal range and contains just 226 calories as well as contributing at least 2 of your 5 a day.

Made using celeriac and mushroom in a cheesy sauce, topped with sliced roasted mushrooms and steamed kale, Mushotto makes for the perfect, comforting evening meal.

Chefs including Nicholas Balfe and Pascal Proyart of One-O-One Restaurant at The Park Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge are also backing the trend. The Hemsley and Hemsley sisters have also famously created a riceless risotto recipe which substitutes the rice for quinoa.
