Sales figures from Halfords reveals that Dash Cams are the biggest growth
category at the retailer, with one in four being sold online. In fact the
retailer sells more than 300 units per day.
Halfords’ recent YouGov research also shows that 56 per cent of motorists feel safer when using a Dash Cam and that 20 per cent are reliant on them when driving*.
Jon Oliver, Halfords’ Dash Cam expert says “In 2016 there is one piece of car kit selling faster than any other and that’s the Dash Cam. Our sales suggest this is one trend that shows no signs of slowing down.
“Not only do Dash Cams encourage safer driving but they can also save you money on your car insurance and protect you from fraud.”
The rise has been fuelled by growing consumer awareness that insurance providers offer significant reductions for drivers using dash cams.
The latest Dash Cams offer peace of mind and reassurance to drivers, as the units take up little space in the car, and the high recording quality means every action on the road is captured.
The latest model at Halfords is the Nextbase 312GW (£99.99) which includes the world’s first click and go powered mount and a wi-fi enabled app which means you can share your footage immediately on your smartphone using the Nextbase App.
In the UK, drivers are using Dash Cams to record their day to day driving. Last year Halfords fitted over 6,000 dash cams as part of its fitting service which means that power wires are hidden behind the car's trim and the vehicle's power socket is free to charge and power other devices. This is the preferred method of most insurance companies.
