- Superdrug to introduce Braid Bars to stores -

Plaits and braids have long been the hairstyle of choice in the playground but in the hair world 2015 will be remembered as the year of the plait, whatever your age.

To celebrate the enduring appeal of the fashion plait Superdrug will open Braid Bars in five stores this year, offering a menu of braided and plaited hairstyles, with prices from just £10.

The first Superdrug Braid Bar will open in Superdrug’s Westfield White City store in November.

Superdrug is partnering with the leader of the plaiting posse, The Braid Bar, for its new service.

Braids and plaited hairstyles have become daily Instagram fodder from celebrities such as Sienna Miller, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Blake Lively and Cara Delavigne.

And age is no barrier to the new plait with those in their forties also joining the trend with celebrities such as Laura Bailey (42), Cameron Diaz (42) and Uma Thurman (45) all sporting red carpet plaits – while mature trend setter Helen Mirren has also been sported with Heidi style braids.

Even men are getting into the spirit with Jared Leto making the man-plait his summer red carpet do – Superdrug’s Braid Bar will be open to both men and women.

Sarah Sharp, Superdrug head of beauty comments: “Busy women know that when it comes to a hairstyle with staying power there is nothing like a professionally created plait. While a blow dry can drop after a couple of days a braid from The Braid Bar can last up to a week – it’s the perfect hair style for the party season.”

Like all Superdrug’s beauty services, no bookings are necessary at its Braid Bar. Stores in Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and a second London store will all offer the service before the end of 2015.
