Double Bubbles
Waitrose launches their first magnum of Prosecco

Despite recent reports of a Prosecco drought, Waitrose can put minds at rest that there will be no shortage of the popular fizz on their shelves this summer.

Cat Lomax, Prosecco Buyer at Waitrose comments; “The Prosecco bubble shows no sign of bursting and we have worked closely with our Italian suppliers to ensure that we can meet customer demand."

In fact, from next week, Waitrose has announced that their shoppers will be able to stock up on magnums of Prosecco for the first time. The launch of the exclusive San Leo Prosecco magnum will be the first fizz Waitrose has stocked in a magnum size, which isn't Champagne.

The introduction of a super sized bottle of Prosecco reflects how popular this fizz has become with Brits.

Sales of this Italian sparkling wine are stronger than ever at Waitrose, with sales across the supermarket's Prosecco range up 16%. A star performer is the Waitrose Prosecco up 111%. Also, sales are strong across different bottle sizes showing customers shop to suit their specific occasion. San Leo Prosecco half size bottles (37.5cl) are up 97%, perfect for a couple sharing a bottle as an aperitif or for making cocktails.

Says Cat Lomax, Waitrose Wine Buyer, "We will be extending our Prosecco range next week to include a magnum of our popular San Leo Prosecco. This Italian favourite offers great value for money making it a popular choice for a get-together with friends or larger celebrations such as weddings. It's also an affordable option for sparkling cocktails such as the on trend Aperol spritz.

"We are confident there will be a strong demand for this magnum size as they create such a sense of occasion. Our new magnum of Prosecco is a great way to add an extra thrill to any party, without having to break the bank. Our San Leo Prosecco is also softer and fruitier than Champagne so it's a great easy drinking option for the warmer weather ahead."

The San Leo Prosecco Magnum launches today (Monday 8th June), priced at £20.99.
